Generation's Cup

Gentlemen:

The Generation's Cup is approaching. The Generations Cup will be September 10th and 11th. We will have a party to kickoff the event on Friday evening September 9th to unveil the teams and pairings for Saturday's play.

Entry Fee is Estimated at $100 and includes two Nike Dri-Fit Shirts, Pairings dinner party, and lunch both days. $1 beer will be available throughout the weekend during play. Saturday will be 27 holes consisting of 9 Holes Best Ball, 9 Holes Scramble, and 9 Holes Alternate Shot.

Sunday will be Tavistock Format where each group will have team matches and individual matches being contested. Deadline to enter in Wednesday September 7th at 5:00 p.m.  Please call or drop by the golf shop to signup.

Upcoming Events

Our next Riverlands Men's Golf Association event in August is set, Individual Match Play. This event returns after a long hiatus. Please see the details below. We will use a tee time start on Saturday. There will be a shotgun start on Saturday at 7:30 for those who do not wish to play in the Tournament. Match Play Tee Times will begin at 11:30 am. on Saturday.  We are using a tee time start due to the Saints Party listed below. 

August 20-21

Entry Fee - $30 includes party, prizes, and Sunday lunch.

Format - Individual Match Play.  The Championship Flight will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Championship Flight Friday Losers will split into the President's Flight.  Flights will be determined after signup. Sunday's play will be 36 holes.

Saints Party - After play on Saturday afternoon, the M.G.A. is sponsoring a party to watch the Saints play the Texans in Houston. Dinner for players and spouses is included in your entry fee. We will also have $1 beer during the game.  We will also be sponsoring a Pool for the game with the proceeds going towards our Men's Locker Room Restoration Project.

After play on Sunday we will have lunch and crown the match play club champions!!

Signup Sheets will be posted in the Golf Shop. 

Generations Cup - Ok, I know a lot of you are excited about this event. So, mark your calendars for September 10th and 11th. We will have a players only party on Friday night before play to unveil the teams. Entry Fee will be $100 and will include 2 team shirts, Friday night dinner, and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. 

There will be no prizes as this event is all about pride, Juniors vs Seniors!!! 

Signup Sheet for this event will be posted in the next week so that we can get shirt sizes in time to get the shirts in.

Night Golf Event June 17th

Our next M.G.A. event will be Night Golf on Friday June 17th.  This event is sponsored by the M.G.A. and is open to ALL members at Riverlands (yes, this includes ladies) please see below for the details.

When - Friday June 17th

Entry Fee - $35  your entry fee includes prizes, night golf supplies,  pasta-laya dinner before play, official night golf "mai tai" drink on course, and chicken wing station on the course.

Time - Festivities kick off at 6:00 p.m. with an extreme putting challenge course and dinner, then play will start at dark on the 5 hole night golf course.

Format - A-B-C-D scramble. Teams will be randomly selected. We received a lot of positive feedback after randomly drawing the teams for the crawfish and decided that this would be a great event to again randomly draw teams.  Please sign up Individually in the golf shop.

We think this will be an exciting and fun event. Please come out and have a great time.

Member Guest Week

1. Friday May 20th - Practice Rounds and Shoot-out. Please arrange a practice round time for you and your guest by getting in touch with the golf shop. The course is only open to those who are playing in the member guest. The shootout will begin at 3:00 p.m. with para-mutual betting before play. Please sign up for the shootout in the golf shop.

A jambalaya lunch will be served from 11:00 - 2:30. A special thank you to Sheriff Wayne L. Jones for donating the jambalaya lunch. We are very appreciative of his support and also for letting us borrow his tents for this weekend. 

The silent auction will be going on all day in the clubhouse and we will pickup the Calcutta in the evening with the Mexican Buffet beforehand and open bar. Para-mutual betting will also be taking place on Friday evening.

2. Saturday May 21st - Play starts promptly at 9 a.m.There will be two 50/50 raffles, one for Saturday and one for Sunday. These may be purchased on the drink cart 1 for $10 or 3 for $20. You may also purchase additional chances for the PING irons at the hit the green contest on hole #2. Proceeds from this raffle will be used to buy additional chemicals for our course. $1 drinks during play.

   There will also be a players pool conducted by Mr. Ellis Sampson II, please find him prior to play on Saturday Morning to enter.

Seafood Extravaganza -  After Play on Saturday evening. Live music, seafood, and open bar.  We will also have an extreme putting challenge. $5 per round. Low score wins a new PING putter. Proceeds will be donated to buy primo for our fairways.  

3. Sunday May 22nd - Second Round starts promptly at 10 a.m. followed by a Fried Chicken lunch.

We are very excited for this year's event. We have seen an increase in participation in this event over previous years. We hope that everyone is enjoying the new direction of the M.G.A. to provide you with a fun,exciting, and challenging tournament series.
